What is Clubhouse and how can it help my business?

Staying on top of the latest trends in marketing is a great way for your business to be forward-thinking, innovative and bringing in new customers via different routes.

At Cornerstone Your Business we work hard to keep our finger on the pulse of all things new in marketing, and one that’s creating a stir in our professional circles is Clubhouse.


What is Clubhouse?


Clubhouse is an app – available to download on Android or iPhone – that delivers a unique social media platform where users communicate only via live audio. Once the chats are over, the audio is deleted.


So think of it a bit like a virtual networking event where you can drop into different “rooms” discussing different topics. In these you’ll find the “speaker”, the “moderator” and all of the listeners. During the discussions users can “raise their hand” to ask a question or share their own experience. Everything is happening in real time and as nothing is recorded, users need to pay attention!


But it also gives users access to those they could never gain access to on any other platform; like Elon Musk, Oprah Winfrey and Mark Zuckerburg. As well of course to other Clubhouse users around the world discussing important issues and news topics that could affect the business you’re in.


In the words of its founders: “The thing we love most is how voice can bring people together. No matter where you live in the world or what networks you have access to, in Clubhouse you can be in the room—often with people whose lived experience has been very different from your own.


Clubhouse is invitation only, and once invited into Clubhouse users only have a limited number of invitations of their own to send out to friends or colleagues. But watch this space as the owners have plans to change this and make it more widely available this year.


How can Clubhouse support my professional service?


Like all social media platforms and marketing tools Clubhouse comes with its disadvantages and concerns over privacy. But it’s also a new and upcoming, and importantly growing, site that business owners who get in now can use to put themselves ahead of their competition.

How? Well for starters it’s a superb way to stay current in your industry, getting real time insight into anything affecting your business. A landmark hearing, Bank of England announcement, or Covid-19 retriction... whatever it is that is happening in the world that could impact your business, with Clubhouse you can be a part of the conversation around it, not only having your own input but also gaining the insight of others.


Then of course there’s the trust-building aspect to being a member of Clubhouse. By putting your business and name in the room you have an opportunity to showcase your own knowledge. And of course once you’ve got to grips with using the app you can create your own rooms to take a lead on topics in your industry.



Why is Clubhouse so popular?


The past year has changed the way the world works exponentially, with an online presence essential to success. Networking events, conferences and training are now almost always delivered online thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic, and businesses need to think of how best they can make this work for them.


Clubhouse provides one solution, and given that it’s audio only it eliminates the Zoom/Teams weariness that many now feel since March 2020 (there’s no need to look smart or turn your camera off video when the kids walk in for a snack!).
